I am a certified drug and alcohol counselor in Los Angeles, California. I have a BA in Psychology from California State Northridge and a master's in Marriage and Family Therapy from Pepperdine University. I am pursuing my PsyD in Marriage and Family Therapy at the Chicago School of Professional Psychology. I've dedicated my life to helping people recover from drug addiction.
William “J.R.” Roberts is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) in Los Angeles. He has also been a State-Certified Substance Use counselor since 2016. He earned his bachelor’s degree from California State University Northridge at age 48 and his Master's Degree from Pepperdine at age 50.
He is a recovering intravenous heroin and cocaine addict with a sobriety date of June 24th 2008.
J.R. wrestled professionally for more than 20 years and claims to have been the Heavyweight Champion of the World on nine different occasions. He has wrestled in Texas, Florida, Georgia, West Virginia, Ohio and all of Southern California. He is currently retired and a member of the Millennium Pro Wrestling Hall of Fame.
J.R. was prominently featured in the 2021 documentary film Unpinned. His story has had many ups and downs and he promises there will be many more highlights in the future.
LMFT. California certified Substance Use Counselor CATC LMFT. Trained in Structural Family Therapy, Bowen Family Systems, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Behaviorism, and Humanism / Rogerian Therapy. Preferred treatment methods include Solution Focused Brief Therapy, Motivational Interviewing and Client Centered Therapy.
William has also created a detailed method of achieving and maintaining sobriety called the Four Point Plan.
William has a history in the entertainment industry where he performed as s singer in a band , starred in a documentary film and spent over 20 years in the Independent Professional Wrestling business. William also attended art school and has some knowledge of 2 dimensional design and website design.
William has extensive experience in management of drug treatment centers.
